It's French, it's a low-budget first/third-person shooter, and its biggest claim to fame is that Hubert ( Alone in the Dark) Chardot penned the script - which is passably generic at best.
Let's face it though, the odds were against this one from the start. Crushing linearity and an insane preponderance of intrusive cut-scenes betray an overzealous cinematisation, while poor production values and uninspired gameplay hark back to a more traditional paradigm. In a heartstopping twist, From Dusk Till Dawn has managed to tread a tightrope between the two. While those golden days are behind us, the bigger worry these days is that the developers will get the whole 'film' thing into their heads and take a crack at that nemesis of decent gameplay, the interactive movie. I think the story is very entertaining, and explains things about the first film, which i thought was interesting! Its just the way this film shot, that makes it diffrent from the first and especially the second! And definatly as one person stated Rodriquze really did have his hands on this film! Some of the style does remind you of his earlier work! All in all, a good film, that doesn't surpass the first.In simpler times, all you had to worry about when confronted with a minor film-licensed game was the likelihood that it was a soulless, formula-driven cash-in, probably a generic shooter, probably complete nob. The cinematography is amazing, and the characters are well acted. Sure this film does not surpass its original, but i will amdit for a sequel it is a good film. But luckily they did! Hangmans Daughter is a far superior film compared to the Texas Blood Money. There where only a few entertaining parts in that film, and when i saw a few.i truley mean it! I thought they wouldnt even release the third installment after how horrible the second one was.
I couldn't wait till the sequels came out! I didn't even mind the fact that they where being released to video, because the first one was so great, they couldnt possibly screw up! That was until i saw From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money. After Watching From Dusk Till Dawn, i fell in love with the movie.
